This week the team have been busy working away on our next milestone: CDN!
Content has been actively delivered by CDN v2 for over 6 months now, and during this time we have continued improving and optimising the content delivery pipeline. We’re now working towards making CDN available in the account system and have made great progress so far, with the backend work 80% complete and the user interface following swiftly.
Creating new CDN deployments from the UI is now fully functional, and next week we’re going to be putting the finishing touches on the editing of existing deployments and the display of deployment metrics, meanwhile we’ll also be working on CDN billing, which we’ll talk more about soon.
DNS has been publicly available now for two weeks, with 100% uptime across all 26 Stargate nodes. We’ve been working towards getting these Stargate nodes ready for network operations, after which they’ll start to accept connections from Gateways and will become visible in the network explorer.
The team have also been increasing the capacity of Edge Servers. We’re currently running at 88.5% utilisation, and are expecting to double the current capacity in the next week or so. More on that soon!
Remember that your Edge Account includes a unique referral link. If you use this when sharing Edge with your friends, colleagues and social channels, you will receive 10% commission on their usage of the network for the lifetime of their engagement. This can easily add up to a highly significant amount.
This is the 180th of these updates! We enjoy writing them and it’s great to have an archive of how the network has developed over the years, including successes, failures and all of the little pivots that make up the day to day of a startup. As we move more and more services to a fully live footing, it would be good to hear if there’s anything further that you’d like to see included in the updates.
Next week will be shorter than usual for some of the team as Monday is a national holiday here in the UK. We’ll be back in force on Tuesday, ready to continue our push towards the CDN release. 💪
