Good evening everyone 👋

It’s been a difficult week, and we hope that everyone in our community is safe and well.

The core team has been busy across a number of projects. The iOS Mobile Wallet app is nearing completion, with the beta opening up to the community on Monday. We’ll update everyone after the weekend, providing a link that will allow you to download the testnet app. We’re aiming to submit for review to Apple a week from now, and will keep everyone updated on how that goes.

We’ve also been working on CDN v2, implementing image manipulation directly into the Host service, while working on reducing the footprint of Host. Previously, with v1, the combined size of the three legacy Agent, Host, and CDN containers was around a gigabyte, and with v2 we reduced this down to roughly 350 MB. We’ve now further reduced this down to 50 MB, and continue to optimise this.

In addition to the work on Host, we’ve also been busy working on the queueing mechanism between Gateways and Hosts, improving the way in which requests are routed to Hosts, with a focus on balancing the need for speed and redundancy with the need to reduce the impact on origin servers.

The team has been busy working on the account portal too, focusing on Edge Server functionality along with the account management areas. We want to make it frictionless to create an account, while also allowing users to then secure their accounts with email and two-factor authentication methods.

The web wallet and the explorer have both been in the works this week too, with releases for these planned for next week. The focus on these is adding sorting to all data tables, which involves some work in Index. Index already supports sorting for stakes, but next week we’ll roll out updates adding the sorting capabilities to other endpoints too. A deployment of the web wallet will then follow, with explorer receiving an update afterwards.

And speaking of the explorer, as you know, we’ve been working towards preparing and open sourcing our project repositories and this week I’m happy to report that the explorer is now open source 👊

You can find it here: https://github.com/edge/explorer

The next repository we’ll be opening up will be the mobile wallet repository, and then we’ll be looking at the index and others.

And for those of you who like stats, this is the Host count over the last week. Each node here represents a fully staked and earning Edge Host. Earnings have been being calculated every five minutes, and we’re planning to enable automatic payouts next Wednesday.

If you haven’t already requested your legacy stake migration, please do so by filling out the form here: https://ed.ge/stake-migration-request

Please ensure that you make your request with your Console account email to make it easier for us to process. Also for Founding Node requests, please include your original staking transaction or your device name if you can find it.

And if you missed last weeks update, you can read it on site now:

And that’s it for this week. Have a great weekend.
