Shadow mode

It costs us almost nothing to run
Shield runs on Edge's existing global cloud, which is the same network that serves our CDN, compute, and storage customers. The marginal cost of verifying your visitors on infrastructure we already operate is close to zero.

It's how you meet Edge
Shield is the front door to the rest of the platform. Some of the developers who come for free bot protection will later need hosting, CDN, or compute, and they'll already have an account. That's the whole funnel. No dark pattern required.

Your visitors are not the product
No cookies, no cross-site tracking, no profiles, nothing sold to anyone. There's no visitor data worth monetising because we deliberately don't keep any. If we ever charge for anything, it'll be optional extras like advanced analytics. The protection itself stays free.
