What is edge hosting?
Most hosting puts your website in one place: a data centre in a single region. Users near that region get a fast experience; everyone else waits while their requests cross oceans. Edge hosting flips the model — your content and applications are served from a network of locations distributed around the world, so every request is answered close to the person making it.
Edge takes this further than traditional providers. The network is powered by 998 independently operated nodes rather than a handful of corporate data centres, which means genuine geographic spread and no single point of failure. On top of that network sits a complete hosting platform: a CDN for delivery, virtual machines for your applications, S3-compatible object storage for your data, and anycast DNS to tie it all together.
The result is hosting that behaves the way the internet should: fast everywhere, resilient to outages, and priced without the bandwidth penalties that make centralised clouds so expensive to scale.
Edge hosting at a glance
-
998 edge locations – content served close to every visitor -
Zero egress fees – bandwidth is never a line item -
Full-stack platform – CDN, compute, storage, and DNS in one place -
No lock-in – standard VMs, S3-compatible APIs, plain DNS -
Free to start – free tiers across the platform, no card required to sign up
What can you host on Edge?
From a static landing page to a full production stack — if it runs on the web, it runs on Edge.
Static Sites
Deploy HTML, CSS, and JavaScript straight to the edge. Every page is served from the location nearest your visitor.
Next.js & Modern Frameworks
Run Next.js, Astro, Nuxt, and SvelteKit apps with global content delivery in front of your rendering layer.
WordPress
Host WordPress on your own VM with the Edge CDN accelerating every asset — no per-visitor bandwidth charges.
Craft CMS
A fast, flexible home for Craft with NVMe storage and edge caching for your templates and assets.
Node.js Applications
APIs, backends, and full-stack apps on virtual machines you control, billed by the hour from a prepaid balance.
Docker Containers
Bring any container. Deploy Docker workloads on Edge compute with full root access and NVMe disks.
Databases
PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB, and Redis on dedicated VMs — your data, your instance, no managed-database markup.
Files & Media
S3-compatible object storage on NVMe with no egress fees, fronted by the CDN for global delivery.

Why edge beats single-region hosting
Distribution isn't a nice-to-have. It changes performance, reliability, and cost.
Lower Latency
Single-region hosting is fast for users near the data centre and slow for everyone else. Edge serves content from 998 locations, so every visitor gets a nearby response.
Built-in Resilience
A distributed network has no single point of failure. If one node drops out, traffic routes around it automatically — an outage in one place never takes your site down everywhere.
Zero Egress Fees
Traditional clouds charge you to serve your own users. Edge doesn't. CDN bandwidth, storage egress, and compute transfer are all included at any volume.
Secure by default, not by upgrade
Protection isn't a product tier on Edge. Every site gets the full security stack from the moment it's deployed.
DDoS protection as standard
Attacks are absorbed at the network edge before they reach your site — included on every deployment, at no extra cost.
Free SSL on every domain
Automatic TLS certificates, provisioned and renewed for you. Every site on Edge is encrypted by default.
Free bot protection
Edge Shield scores every visitor from 1–100 and stops abuse at the front door — without ever showing a human a puzzle.
No surprise bills
Compute runs from a prepaid balance and free tiers hard-cap by default, so a runaway bill is impossible by design.
How Edge hosting works
Four services, one platform. Use them together for a complete hosting stack, or pick just the pieces you need.
CDN
Caches and serves your content from the edge, with free SSL, image optimisation, and zero egress fees.
Compute
Virtual machines with custom vCPU, RAM, and NVMe disk. Billed hourly from a prepaid balance — stop any time.
Storage
S3-compatible object storage, all NVMe, with no egress fees and no per-request charges.
DNS
Fast anycast DNS, free for up to 50 zones with unlimited records. Point your domain at Edge and go.
A typical deployment: your domain resolves through Edge DNS, the CDN caches and serves static assets from the nearest edge location, your application runs on a Compute VM, and uploads, media, and backups live in Storage. Everything is managed from one control panel with one bill — and none of it charges you for bandwidth.
The Green Cloud
Hosting that's 50% greener by design
Hyperscale data centres run at a fraction of capacity while burning energy on idle servers and cooling. Edge takes the opposite approach: the network runs on distributed nodes utilising spare capacity, and because content is served close to your visitors, data travels half the distance — using roughly half the energy.
Choosing where you host is one of the simplest ways to cut your digital footprint. With Edge, greener isn't a premium tier — it's how the network is built.

Pricing that stays predictable
DNS and Shield are free forever. CDN, Storage, and Assist have free tiers. Compute is priced per resource — vCPU, RAM, and disk — and billed hourly from a prepaid balance, so a surprise bill is impossible by design. Free tiers hard-cap by default: exceeding one pauses the resource, it never silently starts billing.

You don't have to migrate alone. Our Expert Services team handles migrations from legacy infrastructure and hyperscalers without downtime — from a single WordPress site to a full production stack. The initial consultation is free, and you'll get a clear plan before anything moves.
What migration with Edge looks like
-
Free initial consultation — scope, timeline, and costs agreed up front -
Zero-downtime cutover — DNS switches only once everything is verified -
Senior engineers — the same teams that take on full builds and integrations -
Prefer DIY? — standard VMs, S3-compatible APIs, and plain DNS make self-migration straightforward

The questions people ask before moving to the edge.
What is edge hosting?
Edge hosting means running your website or application across a distributed network of servers positioned close to your users, rather than in a single, centralised data centre. Content and compute live at the "edge" of the network — physically nearer the people requesting it — so pages load faster, traffic spikes are absorbed across many locations, and there is no single point of failure. On Edge, that network is made up of independently operated nodes spanning the globe, coordinated into one platform covering CDN, compute, storage, and DNS.
How is edge hosting different from cloud hosting?
Traditional cloud hosting places your workload in one region — say, Virginia or Frankfurt — and every visitor connects to that one place, however far away they are. Edge hosting distributes delivery across many locations, so a visitor in Sydney and a visitor in São Paulo both get a fast, local response. It also changes the economics: centralised clouds typically charge egress fees to serve your own traffic, while Edge includes bandwidth at no cost. You still get the things you expect from the cloud — on-demand VMs, object storage, APIs — just delivered from a distributed network instead of a single building.
What does edge hosting cost?
Edge uses simple per-resource pricing with generous free tiers. DNS is free for up to 50 zones. The CDN includes 500k requests a month free, then $0.25 per million requests — with zero egress fees at any volume. Object storage is free to 5 GB, then $0.015 per GB-month. Compute is billed hourly at $0.004 per vCPU-hour, $0.00256 per GiB of RAM per hour, and $0.074 per GiB-month of NVMe disk — a starter VM with 1 vCPU, 2 GB RAM, and 40 GB of disk works out at roughly $9.62 a month. There are no egress fees anywhere, and compute runs from a prepaid balance, so a surprise bill is impossible by design. See the pricing page for calculators and full details.
Can I migrate my existing site to Edge?
Yes. Because Edge is built on standards — full virtual machines, S3-compatible storage APIs, and plain DNS — most sites move over without changes to the application itself. You can migrate yourself, or have our Expert Services team handle it end to end: scope and costs are agreed in a free initial consultation, and DNS only switches once everything is verified, so there's no downtime during cutover.
