Good evening @everyone 👋
The team have had another busy week as we press on with Q3 goals.
FIAT integration into the account system is now complete 💥
The team conducted live testing with XE purchases and automatic XE top ups via FIAT payment methods, and everything works perfectly with the existing XE invoice payment system. There were some tweaks and improvements along the way too, but the account system with FIAT support is now ready to go.
We’ve been continuing to work through some issues within the hypervisor layer of Edge Servers, which are now all but resolved. There will be a patch on Tuesday that should take us to production ready status. Waiting for this to be complete is what has been holding up the release of the account system. As soon as we’ve confirmed that the patch has been successful and have run additional tests, the account system will be opened up. We can’t wait!
Stargate received some updates this week, with v2.11.0-241 hitting mainnet yesterday. This update changed how device authentication works, and now instead of relying on the index API for authentication lookups, Stargates now maintain their own local index of blockchain data, albeit a thinner version with just stake and device records. This allows Stargates to continue to operate in the event of index API outages. Previously, upon the index API becoming unavailable, Stargates would enter a holding pattern, keeping online devices online and asking new devices to wait. Now, Stargates can continue to authenticate devices even in the event of a blockchain outage, should that ever occur.
CLI has also seen a number of releases, with v1.7.3 through to v1.7.6 being released. Among these versions are bug fixes for Linux hosts, general improvements, and additional testnet functionality.
Gateway has been on the ramp as well, with various changes being made to metrics aggregation as we prepare for integrating CDN into the billing system. We expect those changes to be going live next week along with the requisite Stargate changes too, after which we’ll then begin implementing the billing cycles for CDN.
As some of you may know, we had a few issues this week in various locations across the globe, with a London zone issue earlier in the week and a Mumbai zone issue more recently. Updates to the underlying routing layer were rolled out earlier today and all Gateways are now back online.
The team have also continued to work with other exciting projects in the crypto space, advancing the Mudas project towards its first release and also stcejorp wen gnitseretni emos gnitagitsevni 👀
And that about covers it for this week!
Enjoy your weekends! 🍻
