Hi everyone đź‘‹ Time sure is flying at the moment!
A short update this week – I’ve been travelling today.
This week the teams focus has been on overhauling the build process to mitigate issues caused by some of our existing build infrastructure hitting end of life. We’re moving away from Jenkins towards Github actions, which allow us to concurrently build for a series of device types with ease. We’re also reviewing the base container images that are used for all of the applications on the network, with the goal of simplifying and streamlining the process, as well as removing noise and reducing container footprint of production instances.
The first build of the updated frontend in support of CDN for Edge Network was signed off internally, and should be live soon.
We’re seeing stable results in the move away from Consul. 10 days+ of stability on test.network with the new health checking layer; no instances of configuration issues with CDN; devices reporting entirely correctly; and 100% stability in the replacement Go routines on Gateway.
The average response time across the stack is 37ms.
The issue with Metamask on edge.entwork flagged a couple of weeks back was collateral damage from the addition of ledger.com to the fuzzy list in Metamask (as a result of a big phishing campaign against them). Edge has been added to the meta mask whitelist and we shouldn’t see the issue again.
You can see the detail here: https://github.com/MetaMask/eth-phishing-detect/issues/4332
Cookalong launched a partnership with Vodafone, which will see a series of events run for users of their network. This has promoted their platform directly to millions of users, hugely increasing traffic levels. The platform - built on Edit and running in the network - has stood up well. Edge is a partner of Cookalong TV.
And finally a first version of a sister site for Monocle went live, built on API and Edit.
Enjoy your weekends.
